The house was bright white – inside and out – with large windows, and we made it more inviting and intimate by adding dark and matte colors and soft textures. The design is also an ode to nature and the beautiful countryside location: the custom fireplace surround was inspired by the tall woods behind the house, the powder room wallpaper features rolling scenic design of a wilderness reserve, and we took full advantage of the home’s proximity to vintage shops, makers, and artists in the Hudson Valley and Washington, DC, where the client lives year-round.
