A Unique Cleveland Park Home

Project:  The owner of a local Georgetown art gallery contacted me to help her add some finishing touches to her amazingly-art-filled home in Cleveland Park.  We started in a couple of rooms adding rugs, lighting and pillows, and then we turned to more significant changes in other rooms.

As an example of the larger changes, the den you see (first two photos in this Gallery) with the floral sofa and plaid carpet used to have yellow walls and odd built-ins, making the room feel smaller than it really was.  We continued her fun juxtaposition of modern and vintage pieces into this space by reupholstering her existing sofa in a wonderful Manuel Canovas “Sara” fabric.  The plaid Stark carpet gave the room a “touch of den” that helped balance the floral pattern.

Design Challenge:  It’s a little intimidating when the owner of an art gallery asks you to turn her mix of family photos into a proper salon-style gallery wall…

Best Part:  The extra-bedroom-turned-playroom is the perfect space for playdates!
