A Booklover’s Bedroom

Project:  This family moved into an amazing Victorian home and wanted to get their sons’ bedrooms set up right away.  With his brother’s room next door we created a unique space for this young man.

Design Challenge:  Um, this kid has a ton of books.  A ton.  A regular freestanding bookshelf would have been visually too heavy and wouldn’t have left us with any closed storage for games and stuff.  So we took up a whole wall using fairly narrow shelves and brackets from Ikea that were perfect so that he has access to his library at all times.

Best Part:  He had to write an essay about this room for school and said that his room “feels calm and cool.  It is also very cheerful and cozy at the same time.  That is my room!”.
