We are working on a partner's law office this week -- fun for me to design the perfect law office!
People said it could not be done. Even I had started to have my doubts. When I bought the Woody Dining Table floor sample at CB2, I kind of assumed it would fit in the back of my Mazda 3 Hatchback. The size of the table looked super reasonable in the store, and besides a car is bigger than a dining table right?
I’ve been eyeing the Woody for a while now and the floor model price was too good to resist. It is easy to disassemble and store until it finds the perfect home. I love a good deal and an oversized floor model is usually the best deal around– you just have to be willing and able to do the work of packaging, disassembling and picking-it up yourself. The CB2 people told me to come prepared with my tools and my method of transportation. So I packed my wrench and my tarp and emptied every single thing out of my car. That’s when the doubt started to creep in. My Mazda is no ordinary car — it magically expands to fit everything I’ve ever stuffed into it. This time, however, there was nothing to configure or rearrange…it was me against the math. But there was no going back — I had 48 hours to pick up my non-refundable floor sample table from CB2 and Zip Car was fresh out of van or van-like vehicles. Here goes nothing…
The stock person seriously laughed at me when I told her that, yes, I was here for the Woody dining table and yes that little car was the one that I would be using to transport said table. But truthfully, there is nothing I love more than the challenge of working with small and awkward spaces. And this may have been one of my most daring attempts yet. Never say never, I say! The legs came off. The front seat went down. And down some more. And to the disbelief of the super helpful professionals at CB2, it fit!
Victory is mine!
